TCL Corporation Achieved New Peaks in Industry and Market Value in 2014 (January 9, 2015)

On January 10, TCL Corporation released an announcement on the sales volume of its main products in December. The sales volume of smart network televisions and smart phones has kept rising sharply on a year-on-year basis, and a growth in the number of users who activated the smart network televisions, number of daily active users, and number of users who followed its subscription account in WeChat was obvious, while the business of CSOT in terms of LCD panels still remained strong.

The sales volume of TCL’s LCD television products totaled 17.177 million from January to December. Among that, the sales volume in December was up to 2.034 million, and the sales volumes of TCL Multimedia LCD televisions were 1.333 million and 667,000 in domestic and overseas markets respectively. During December, the sales volume of smart network televisions within the domestic market totaled 883,000, up 50.3% on a year-on-year basis, accounting for 66.2% of the domestic sales volume of TCL Multimedia LCD televisions.

It is noteworthy that TCL also made a breakthrough in research and development of its new products. On December 15, TCL officially launched H9700, the first quantum dot television within China, which broke the restriction that OLED was the only development orientation for the industry, and such an idea has already been implemented into volume production. It is reported that during the Consumer Electronics Show 2014, LG and other manufacturers also launched LCD televisions with quantum dot technology. Due to the fact that quantum dot technology could offer high image quality comparable with that offered by OLED television but for a lower price, it is anticipated that such technology will become a new trend in the color television industry during 2015.

TCL also made smooth progress in operating smart television users. In December, the number of users who were newly activated via smart network television terminals totaled 256,000, the number of activated users was up to 6.747 million accumulatively, and the number of daily active users for this month amounted to 2.269 million. In addition, the number of users activated via smart network television terminals operated by www.tvhuan.com was already up to 11.556 million, among which, the number of users who were newly activated this month was 441,000, and the number of daily active users was 3.965 million. In addition, TCL WeChat TV has become more popular among its users. As of December 31, 2014, the number of televisions which were initiated via the WeChat function was up to 117,000, and the number of users following TCL’s subscription account in WeChat had grown to more than 150,000.

In addition, its performance in communication business was also great. In December, the sales volume of mobile phones and other products by TCL Communication totaled 8.57 million, up 38.2% on a year-on-year basis. Among that, the sales volume of smart phones for the current month was up 115.9% on a year-on-year basis, accounting for 63.1% of the total sales volume of mobile phones and other products by TCL Communication. Based on relevant data, the accumulative sales volume of mobiles phones was up to 73.49 million in 2014, up 33.13% on a year-on-year basis. In addition, with its recent announcement that it has already purchased Palm, TCL Communication will actively arrange its business in high-end mobile phone market within North American and then further improve the structure of its product line.

The panel business of CSOT has managed to maintain full capacity and sales. In December, the output of LCD glass substrates totaled 142,000, up 11.3% on a year-on-year basis, and the total output of the whole year was 1.605 million, up 15.0% on a year-on-year basis. The sales volume of LCD panels and module products was 2.627 million in total, up 21.9% on a year-on-year basis. . The sales volume of main products produced by the Home Appliances Group also kept a stable growth. In December, the sales volumes of washing machines and refrigerators increased 53.8% and 0.8% respectively, and the annual growth of air conditioners and refrigerators each surpass 12%. In addition, according to previous news, it is expected that the annual sales revenue of TCL Home Appliance Group in 2014 would be more than 10 billion RMB.

TCL Corporation also made a great performance in the capital market during 2014. The share price of TCL rose 66.8% in 2014, and it became a main home appliance enterprise listed in A share with the fastest growth. Its growth was also much more than the annual growth of Shenzhen Component Index, which was 35.62%, and the share price also rose to a new high since it was listed, with its market value also approaching 38 billion RMB. When t2 of CSOT is put into operation and t3 promoted smoothly in 2015, the vertically integrated advantage of TCL consumer electronics industrial chain will be further confirmed, the “Double+” strategy transformation will be deepened continuously, and the international business will be developed, so that its market value will be increased steadily.
